Trump Says a Major Russia Deal Could Involve All of Europe

The US president says a major agreement with Moscow could extend beyond Ukraine, after meeting privately with Vladimir Putin’s envoy at the White House.

President Donald Trump has suggested that a potential agreement with Russia could reshape more than the future of Ukraine, saying it could involve the entire European continent.

Trump revealed that he had held a private meeting with Kremlin envoy Kirill Dmitriev, who was in Washington for a White House event involving Russian and Ukrainian representatives hosted by First Lady Melania Trump.

The president did not disclose the details of his conversation with Dmitriev. However, he described the possible outcome as a major agreement that could involve more than Ukraine and potentially all of Europe.

The remarks have raised questions about what Washington and Moscow may be discussing, particularly as European governments remain concerned about the future of NATO, military deployments and the continent’s long-term security arrangements.

Ukraine and Europe seek security guarantees

The diplomatic activity is taking place on several fronts.

US officials, including presidential envoy Jared Kushner, held discussions in Brussels with representatives from Ukraine, NATO and European countries. The talks focused on security guarantees for Ukraine and a broader framework for European security.

Kushner described the discussions as productive and said the parties were exploring practical measures intended to reduce the risk of renewed conflict.

The subjects reportedly include permanent security consultations, reliable crisis communication, greater military transparency and reciprocal measures designed to reduce escalation risks.

Kushner also stressed that any arrangements must respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries and their independent decisions about security and alliances.

New negotiations scheduled for Abu Dhabi

The next round of US-mediated talks between Russia and Ukraine is scheduled for November 10–11 in Abu Dhabi.

The discussions will take place against the backdrop of renewed diplomatic activity and uncertainty over the direction of Trump’s approach to Moscow and Kyiv.

The president has repeatedly suggested that a settlement could be close, but the central issues remain difficult: territorial control, Ukraine’s security guarantees, Russia’s demands and the future relationship between Moscow and Western countries.

The White House event also highlighted a humanitarian channel involving the temporary ceasefire in the Russian-controlled Ukrainian city of Oleshky. Melania Trump said she hoped the humanitarian contacts could contribute to a more enduring ceasefire.

Why the reference to all of Europe matters

Trump’s statement is significant because European security is not limited to the battlefield in Ukraine. Any broader agreement could affect NATO’s role, military deployments, relations with Russia and the security choices available to European governments.

However, Trump has not announced a completed agreement, and there is no confirmation that Russia and the United States have reached a comprehensive settlement covering Europe.

For now, the diplomatic process is continuing, with Washington attempting to bring the sides closer while Ukraine and its European partners seek guarantees that any future arrangement will protect their sovereignty and security.

The upcoming Abu Dhabi talks may provide a clearer indication of whether Trump’s proposed “big agreement” is becoming a concrete diplomatic framework—or remains an ambitious political statement.
